Vintage 1970s Alco Stoneware Mugs wth Orange Flowers - Set of Two Made in Korea
Mugs are fun to use... when serving soup, for cereal... they even make clever planters! (from a 1976 advertisement for Alco soup mugs)
{HISTORY}
The cozy season is coming! There's no better way to embrace the cool weather months than with a pretty stoneware mug wrapped in the earthy shades of autumn. These two feature artistically placed, handpainted orange flowers with pine green and chocolate brown leaves and a chocolate brown stripe on the handle.
Made in Korea in the 1970s for Alco, a midwestern U.S. retail chain, technically these were considered soup mugs thanks to their thick-walled, hefty shape, but they also make great tea and coffee cups too.
With the ability to hold 12 oz. of your favorite soup or beverage, this pair thrives in all sorts of delightful situations. Tote them along on a leaf-peeping picnic when an apple cider stop calls. Stack them beside the outdoor campfire as you whip up a batch of homemade chili. Nestle into the couch with your favorite book and a hot cup of tea, Or fill them to the brim with pumpkin soup or lattes made from scratch or a sunrise cup of coffee.
Around here, we just love it when dishware sets the mood for all sorts of situations. Not every vintage mug can offer so much appeal in the way of adventure. These two are extra special in that regard.
