{HISTORY}

If winter, as a season, ever had its own signature plate pattern it would be this one. The swirling winds, the grey skies, the white landscape, the strength of the season... they are all represented here on this vintage 1960s era Buffalo China plate. The pattern is called Gray Crest which has nothing to do with winter, and actually came in a host of other colors too - red, green, pink and blue to name a few.

Heavy duty (like the winter season!), this plate was part of Buffalo China's restaurantware line which serviced the hospitality industry in mid-century America.  Buffalo China had been around since the early 1900's though, first starting out designing soap dishes for its founder, Larkin Soap Company. As the decades progressed it moved into other areas of manufacture including both commercial and home use dish lines. In the 1980's it became a part of the Oneida Ltd. company.

{CONDITION}

No chips or cracks. Imagery is clear and crisp. As expected with most vintage restaurantware, very light utensil marks can be seen when you hold the plate at an angle near a light source.

Because this plate has strong yet classic graphics it is a wonderful candidate for a mix-and-match collection of vintage plates. Pair it with other grey and ivory plates for a unique table setting all your own.
