With oven-ware pottery, you can prepare, bake, serve, and store - without changing dishes! {1940s Pottery Guild adevertisment}

{HISTORY}

In the 1940s, if you had your heart set on becoming the ideal hostess you would stock your cupboards full of cheerful Pottery Guild dishes. Delightfully pretty and also practical, this line of dishware, made by the Cronin China Company in Minerva, OH, was both ovenproof and refrigerator safe, meaning that it could go from oven to table to fridge storage all in the same dish while looking so stylish.

As pretty as a summer's day, this two-quart pitcher, also known as a beverage jug, features the Pottery Guild's peach pattern. It likely never saw any oven use but instead served up refreshing glasses of lemonade, iced tea and assorted juices. Just the kind of cool hospitality you'd long for on a hot day.

Made during the WWII decade, it's a fair bet to say that this pitcher was privy to some pretty interesting conversations. Celebration, sorrow, joy, regret... we'll never know the specifics of what this one encountered, but it is a marvel to think that it has been a part of the domestic landscape for 80 years.

- 2 Quart Capacity

In gorgeous vintage condition. There are no remarkable chips or cracks, but there are two little pockmarks (the size of a pencil point) on the neck and lip near the spout and a tiny curved hairline crack measuring 1/8th" inch in that same area. These are just surface flaws and do not affect the pitcher's use in any way. This pitcher also contains gorgeous crazing marks which are light on the outside and darker on the inside.  Please see photos.
