{HISTORY}

Of all the American potteries, Edwin Knowles China Co. made some of the prettiest dishes of the 20th century. In operation between 1900 and the 1960s, no matter the decade, Edwin Knowles could always be relied upon for dishes that contained beautiful florals, delicate colors, and interesting shapes.  So elegant and stylish were their designs, they've become eternally timeless.

This octagonal platter features pink and white daisies with mint green leaves, mulberry highlights, and an embossed edge. Measuring in at 11.5" inches in length, we love petite platters like this for both decorating and serving purposes.  Small enough to hang in a nook on a wall or above a shelf as an accent piece, yet large enough to serve a platter of cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, or charcuterie, it's that great in-between size that you never knew you needed until you discover its helpful nature. Then it becomes indispensable.

This platter was made in August 1933 during the Great Depression years and was witness to all sorts of interesting table conversations for certain. The big daisy-like blooms are a nice contrast to more traditional, smaller-sized floral prints of the era, and give this serving piece a carefree, bohemian vibe. Now a hard-to-find-pattern, it's piece of pretty kitchen history that's getting ready to celebrate its 100th birthday in just a few years.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, this platter contains no chips or cracks. The platinum edge around the rim has worn almost completely away over time. There's a small gray mark measuring 1/4" inch in length on the interior octagon section.  There are two 1/8th" inch stains on the bottom edge, most likely caused by a plate hanger. these spots are barely noticeable from the front but can be seen more predominantly on the back of the platter.  Please see photos.
