The word resfeber in Swedish means a longing to travel, to experience the new things and to anticipate the unknown. This vintage platter has done all these things and then some, over a long period of time...

{HISTORY}

This vintage beauty of a platter is made of bone china and hails from the Royal Gustafsberg Porcelain Factory in Gustavsberg, Sweden. With it's lush green leaves, pretty yellow primrose style flowers and big size (17" inches!) it serves up a lot of possibility in the kitchen and on the table. Bright, colorful and translucent (when held up to the light) bone china includes a combination of porcelain and animal bone which it gives it great strength and helps prevent chips and cracking.  The fine construction and beautiful detailing of Royal Gustafsberg pieces made it a favorite among royal houses and affluent collectors during the years the pottery operated (1820s-1990s). Hard to find treasures today, R.G. pieces haven't been documented as much online as far as individual pattern names, so neither the date of manufacture nor the pattern name of this particular piece are known at this time other than its reference number of 1232 stamped on the back of the platter.

{CONDITION}

This platter has been well loved  - the pride of someone's kitchen and table for many years. There are no chips or cracks but there are signs of utensil marks and some light rub marks along the green edge. The utensil marks can only been seen when the platter is held at an angle towards the light. There are few crazing lines on the backside of the dish. Please see photos.
