No Christmas memory would seem to be complete without recollections of the holiday foods, most especially the sweets...

{HISTORY}

When Brooklyn native, Mimi Sheraton set out to write this bakery filled cookbook in the 1960's, she embarked on a mission to carefully record and celebrate all the traditional  sweet treats that symbolize Christmas celebrations around the world. Instead of focusing on trendy desserts of the mid-century palette, she ran through time, pulling ancient recipes that laid the foundation for more modern creations and included heritage confections from lesser known countries like Armenia, Lebanon, the Ukraine and Yugoslavia.

Here, bakers will find an interesting array of desserts, breads, beverages, cookies cakes and puddings that represent a wide variety of holiday cooking. From Victorian England to the ancient Celts, from Estonian Honey Cake to Polish Honey Kisses from Almond Empanaditas to Portuguese Sugarplums this book covers so many fun desserts in such a fun way, it will make you wish the Christmas season lasted all year long. In addition to enchanting recipes, this cookbook also comes fully illustrated throughout with whimsical line drawings and styling suggestions.
