{HISTORY}

As far as vintage tins go, there is nothing dreamier than having your own castle.

This one features England's famous Windsor Castle as illustrated by British artist Pauline Ellison. The entire tin is beautifully detailed on each side, offering little bits of time and trivia relating to the castle's history as well as a pretty vista from each angle.

The front contains a view of the King Henry VIII Gate built sometime around 1511. A nod to the kitchen includes the carved panel above the doorway featuring King Henry's coat of arms alongside a pomegranate representing Queen Katharine of Aragon.

The sides each contain portraits of guards sporting their iconic red uniforms and black fuzzy hats while the back features an interior view of the Waterloo Chamber decked out for a banquet. Built in the 1850s to celebrate the defeat of Napolean during the Battle of Waterloo, the Waterloo Chamber contains over three dozen portraits of notable military and political figures and a 160-foot-long banquet table dating to 1846.

The three-dimensional lid includes a birds-eye view of the castle's turrets and the British flag flying over the entrance.

Known for making colorful, eye-catching, decorative boxes and prints, this tin was made by Ian Logan Ltd. in London in 1983. So fun for collecting, Ian Logan tins can be found in the shape of cars, phone booths, cozy cottages and dynamic graphic prints all which add instant character to a kitchen or cook space. This Windsor Castle tin is harder to find among the vintage Ian Logan tins. And rightly so. What King or Queen would ever want to part with their castle these days?!
