Vintage Metal Recipe Box with Decoupage Fruit - Heavy Duty Industrial Kitchen Storage Box
Cooking is one of the strongest ceremonies of life. When recipes are put together, the kitchen is a chemical laboratory involving air, fire, water and the earth. Laura Esquivel
Just like your recipe collection, your recipe box is a container of all sorts of varied creativity from the inside to the outside. This one is a hefty, heavy duty metal box that has been painted so many times it bears chippy paint spots in multiple colors. Rust, blue and grey peek through in places, adding a delightfully aged patina to the outermost layer of pale cream paint. A decoupaged dollap of colorful fruit on the lid adds additional color and charm.
Timeless and classic in style, this box has been around for many decades as evidenced in its quality construction and heavy industrial weight. There are no makers marks to identify the exact age, but we estimate that it was made in the 1940's or 1950's based on the folded side seams, slanted side lines and hinges in back. Sized, ideally, for 3" inch x 5" inch index cards, this box also offers many other kitchen storage opportunities beyond recipe notes and clippings.
